This just makes me, really really annoyed.

Not only are you ‘shipping’ characters that have no sort of romantic inclination to each other (which, mind you, is not that big a deal), you’re ‘shipping’ characters that have no romantic inclination to the same sex. 

And much more importantly, this is entirely out of character. Arthur would not be the least bit concerned about Merlin bleeding unless it were severe. And even if he were concerned about a cut, he’d be flogged before he’d even show that concern. 

Furthermore, under no circumstances would merlin cry because he cut his finger. And if Arthur saw it and even decided to say something about it, he’d taunt Merlin for being an incompetent servant instead of “kissing his boo-boo and carrying him to Gaius”.

This is something that you may have heard of called “fan art”

The majority of fanart I’ve seen are characters doing things that aren’t considered in-character. I understand why you would be annoyed about it being merthur if you don’t ship them, I suppose, but do remember it is fan art and it really isn’t to be taken seriously. Plus when you word it like that, it could sort of hurt the artists feelings?

And honestly look how bloody cute this is. It wouldn’t work if it was in character.

Also oh no how dare we ship characters that aren’t actually romantically canon wow we’re horrible people thank you for showing us the light.

No, they’re right Neny. That sword is way too big for it to be canon.

Lily, take no notice. you’re adorable, your art is adorable. Most ships involve at least a little suspension of disbelief when they’re not canon and you don’t see us coming onto canon ship fanart judging you, so knock it off.

I think a lot of fanart is out of character, but that makes it more adorable.

And by the way, in 2x12, Merlin got his “first battle wound” and Arthur was clearly concerned. He even ripped his own tunic to wrap it. ARTHUR wrapped it, not Merlin. So Arthur is a bit in character, without the kiss of course.
